When Should You Place a Porta Potty Order for Your Event?

If you’re planning an outdoor event that will require the use of porta potties or portable restrooms, it’s important to order them in advance so there are no issues with availability or logistics. But exactly how far in advance should you plan to order them? In addition to providing residential septic repair in Prior Lake, MN, we offer portable toilets for rent. Here are some guidelines based on the size of your event.

Small events

If you’re using anywhere from one to 20 portable toilets, a good general rule is to order them at least two weeks prior to your event date. The absolute latest you should order is several days in advance, but we recommend giving it at least a couple weeks so you don’t have to worry about availability. If you wait too long, there’s a chance the stock of portable toilets will have been taken up by a much larger event.

For small events like this, payment will generally be made in full at the time of the contract signing, so be ready to put the money down when you book the toilets.

Large events

When you’re hosting a larger event that’s going to require 20 or more portable toilets, then you should start looking into scheduling at least a month (and likely more) in advance. You’ll need to have a signed contract and payment in full to secure the rental.

Large events take much more planning than small events with only a couple portable toilets. You may need to talk to a sales representative to get a general estimate of exactly how many porta potties you’re likely to need, as well as the kinds of portable restrooms you should rent.

There are also many more logistical issues that go into planning these larger events. Obviously, delivery and setup of a larger number of porta potties will take more time and planning. You need to make sure the area is appropriately prepared for these porta potties to be set up, as there will be several truckloads of portable toilets brought to the event space. With larger deliveries like this, there must also be special pickup and delivery times based on city codes and permits.

Luxury amenities

If you’re going to need any luxury restroom trailers in addition to your portable toilets, you should book these at least several months in advance to make sure they are going to be available. Most porta potty services do not have as many luxury trailers in stock as they do portable toilets, so if you want to guarantee that the luxury trailers will be available for the day of your event, then you should book as far in advance as you can.

Payment models for these amenities tends to differ—usually you’ll put at least half of the balance down at the time of the contract signing, and then the other half several weeks in advance of your event.
